Prayer Kilim
Side 1
19 S Ya’ Yaleh Prayer Kilim 19′ c 19 S
fragile
retains some supplemental needlework (orange, perhaps aniline)
-museum quality; I think it’s art
-natural colors
-worn and too fragile for use—how did it get worn? Exhibiting somehow?
Side 2
-I bought this on a road trip in Turkey with Gordon and Ruth Washburn and Betty Parsons in 1969. It was found in a new structure along the side of the road. Several interesting older textiles were tacked to the walls. They were all from the same tribe: Ya’ yaleh. I wished I bought a dark runner. The trip was making a collection simultaneously; I bought 10. That was enough
